Valve Testing

Output valves when used in pairs, quads or larger configurations ideally are matched closely for optimal operation and longevity. If you are unsure about the characteristics of your valves, it could be a good idea to get them tested.

Currently offering testing of popular output valve types - EL84, 6V6, 6L6, EL34, KT66, KT77, KT88, 5881, 6550, 7027. If you have another similar type, I may be able to test them as well, so please enquire - octal only currently - no Hi-Fi or radio/TV specific types.

Test for shorts, anode current/runaway dissipation and transconductance are carried out using Maximatcher II - upto 4 valves of one type simultaneously.

I cannot currently test for microphonics unless you are also supplying an appropriate device for service/assessment.

Prices start at $62.50 for first 1-4 valves of one type, then add $20 for each additional pair of valves.

Examples:

4x EL34 = $62.50

6x EL34 = $82.50

2x 6L6GC + 2x EL84 $82.50

4x 6L6GC + 2x EL84 $82.50

Please note, there is no guarantee of valve reliability after testing - that is dependent on the individual operating conditions of the device they will be used in, among other factors.
